Firm Overview

Krieg DeVault's practice has grown dramatically in size and scope since the firm's founding during the mid-1870s. Originally a two-lawyer general practice headed by Indianapolis attorney and civic leader Aquilla Q. Jones, the firm has evolved into a prominent commercial law firm with a fully diversified civil law practice. The firm represents a wide variety of local, regional and national clients in transactions that span not just the Midwest but the world.

Krieg DeVault has managed its growth to provide clients with a high level of continuity and responsiveness. The firm's goal is to offer clear, practical advice based on the knowledge of each client's circumstances and needs. Approachable and accessible, our lawyers present solutions to clients instead of obstacles. They strive to provide excellent legal service economically and expeditiously.

The firm's practice encompasses the fields of corporate and securities law, financial institutions law, civil litigation, creditors' rights and bankruptcy, international business law, government relations, tax-exempt and nonprofit organizations, tax law, health care law, insurance law, energy law, real estate and environmental law, employment law, employee benefits and executive compensation, public finance, municipal law, estate planning and administration, intellectual property, and technology and electronic commerce.

Krieg DeVault's main office is located in Indianapolis with offices also in Carmel, Fort Wayne and Hammond. The firm's ability to assist clients reaches around the world through its membership in Meritas. Meritas is an organization that provides business clients access to service-oriented law firms worldwide. Through this affiliation, Krieg DeVault offers a national and international network to assure its business clients access to cost-effective, quality representation by like-minded firms wherever they have legal needs.

Our clientele is diverse. We serve businesses, government, institutions, families and individuals. Although Krieg DeVault has been known throughout the years as a business and banking law firm, we do much more. Our lawyers work with health care professionals and institutions, entrepreneurs, individuals with family crises, people with complex estate planning needs, organizations that want legislation stopped or passed, and executives who are negotiating their compensation packages. We know that the size of the client does not determine the complexity or validity of legal needs.

The firm is organized into several practice groups that concentrate on specific areas of law. The practice group structure helps lawyers stay abreast of the latest developments in their areas of expertise, and gives clients with complex cases the benefit of a team approach to case management.

The lawyers and staff of Krieg DeVault LLP, work hard to maintain the firm's long-standing tradition of excellence and responsiveness in the representation of each client. Our efforts have fostered the close working relationships between client and lawyer that are the hallmark of our firm.
